Inspired by Friedrich Schiller’s 1785 poem, Ode To Joy, and premiered in Vienna 300 years ago, Beethoven’s ninth - his final completed symphony - is widely considered to be his greatest-ever composition.
The work is here presented in a programme of music that also features Stravinsky’s Symphonies Of Wind Instruments and Strauss’ Metamorphosen.
CBSO Music Director Kazuki Yamada leads the orchestra in a concert which also features the CBSO Chorus.
